HOT CHILD IN THE CITY

Andressa Fontana :: Grazia Italy
Photos by Zoltan Tombor

There's just something about city life, isn't there?  The movement, the fashion, the energy, the culture. The features of Andressa Fontana capture that edge and sense of determination that is rampant in the bustle of urban life.  The fashion's not so bad either...

CASA KIMBALL BY RANGR STUDIO

Casa Kimball :: Rangr Studio

It's not often that I have nothing to say, especially when it comes to architecture, interiors, design, art, graphics, photography...you get the point.  But today, I'll let the images speak for themselves (well mostly!).  Casa Kimball by Rangr Studio is a vacation paradise on the beautiful shore of the Dominican Republic.  With eight suites, multiple pools, breathtaking views, and a one of a kind facade design, not to mention loads and loads of glazing... this is a perfect place to clear your mind for a busy week ahead!  Deep breathes today...stay inspired!

WHISTLE WHILE YOU WORK

Bobby McFerrin :: Don't Worry, Be Happy

Sometimes, no matter how busy you are, you just need a little "me time". I just couldn't resist this picture/song pair on this very busy day, and thought you might enjoy them as well.  Happy Wednesday :)

This retro photoshoot by Richard Bernardin for Grazia Paris is a lovely reminder that sometimes you need to look back before moving forward.  And sometimes kicking your feet up in the air is the best option! Happy new week. Stay inspired!

SIMLE LIVING BY SUB ESTUDIO

Fidalga 727 :: Sub Estudio

Here's to a little mid-week dreaming brought to you by Brazilian based firm, Sub Estudio.  The design for Fidalga 727 reminds us of that no-frills design can still be elegant, innovative, and intriguing while leaving room for the important stuff-- the living part.  Sub Estudio's excellent space planning and utilization of sliding panels and pivoting elements such as the television in the center of the living space allow this loft to transform from an intimate living space to hub for entertaining...as well as an office with a peeping tom's view of the party below.  Enjoy some simplicity today!

These panels can be progressively opened to allow for a greater level of privacy control!

Seriously in love with the materiality of these panels.

DREAMING IN DOTS

Dream Downtown Hotel :: Handel Architects
New York, New York

I love how the overhang of the entrance peels away from the facade, seducing you inside...creating lovely shadows and patterns along the way.

Ahhh, and circle's best friend--the sphere.  They are abundant as lighting here in the super sexy restaurant/bar and continue to trickle through the hallway to the more private areas of the hotel.

And what circle-loving hotel would be complete without a rock star perforated metal headboard in the bedrooms and portal-like windows looking out to Manhattan? The bright pop art is a nice touch as well.

Silver, shiny, and more silver, even in the restrooms.

The sheen continues outside to the private courtyard, so be sure to bring your sunglasses, as this baby will blind you otherwise!

Blindness = worth it.

Admittedly, I've seen this facade on a number of occasions, but for some reason have never wandered inside.  Well, shame on me because the interior is even more tantalizing than expected.  I can't help think of my dear friend Anna from La Boheme when I see this building. She too is a lover of repetitive elements and one of her faves is circles!  And with Handel Architects in charge of the design of New York's Dream Downtown Hotel in the trendy meat-packing district, there is no shortage of circles here!

HEY GIRL HEY!

Jenna Earle & Amanda N Don :: Flare September 2012
Vivid Beauty looks

These ladies are workin' it in all the right ways for Flare's September 2012 edition. Photographer Chris Nicholls is especially skilled at commanding these high levels of saturation and vibrant colors. Just a brief look at his portfolio, and you can tell this seems to be his specialty.  Balanced without being symmetrical and settled without being boring--very nice.
