Design should evoke.
Good design evokes an emotional response. One of the most powerful tools that a designer should possess is the ability to control the evocative nature of their work. Design is as much perception as it is reality and the decisions that are made along the way of the design process must be confident and intentional in order to uphold the principles that were set in place when the design began. Robert Harper's photo shoot(below) is most certainly evocative in nature. By carefully controlling the lighting, angles, and use of color, Harper is able to achieve quite the emotional range, at times, leaving me speechless.
