Nestled in a cluster of charming historic buildings in Rapperswil, Jona Swizerland , the Jona Municipal Museum Extension enriches its environment with a sense of modernity while leaving the townscape, from afar, relatively unaltered. Meant to create a more continuous interior environment, the new addition tip-toes its way into the alley between two previously separated buildings. The addendum of the perforated bronze facade allows the museum to have a more grand entrance and the angular form of the addition create a sense of necessity--as if the buildings around it would collapse if it were not present--dependence as opposed to abnormality.
