MATT SHLIAN

A master of paper-folding and what he refers to as "kinetic sculptures" Matt Shlian's artistic expressions have even been sought out by engineers and scientists studying cellular division and solar cell development.  "Beginning with an initial fold, a single action", Shlian states, "causes a transfer of energy to subsequent folds, which ultimately manifests in drawings and three-dimensional forms".  He begins first with a system of folding, then allows the material to take over.
