MEMORIES

Japanese artist, Motoi Yamamoto, began composing his elaborate salt compositions in his junior year of college after his sister lost her battle to cancer.  His medium of choice, salt, is especially meaningful in traditional Japanese burial rituals.  Yamamoto hopes that each of his elaborate salt labyrinths will evoke a memory of his sister and give observers an opportunity for contemplation and remembrance of those they have lost.
