CELL PHONE DISCO

Cell Phone Disco :: Ursual Laveren

Cell phone disco by architect Ursula Laveren in Dublin is an interactive installation that translates the radio waves of an active cell phone into a different kind of wave-- those in the field of visible light. If the individual is in proximity of the installation while receiving a phone call or a text message, thousands of lights are activated to mimic the users activity. Cell phone disco is a creative way of rewarding people for interacting with each other while humanizing technology. I love the potential of this type of project and creative implementation of technology in concert with an object we all use everyday.

REMEMBERING STEVE

As October 5 marked the year anniversary of Steve Jobs passing, I thought it only seemed suiting that we remember his genius for a few minutes. Although I'm sure this can only be fully realized by those closest to him, he will forever be inspiring.

PROTOS 3D Printed Eyewear
San Francisco, CA

Today I am especially excited to share with you the new San Francisco based design team (and friends) behind PROTOS Eyewear.  PROTOS uses advanced computer modeling, scanning, and printing software to create truly unique designs never before possible.  And with 3D printing being essentially a no-waste process, PROTOS is spearheading the creative campaign to transform this type of "prototyping tool to a viable manufacturing solution"[via]. You can check out PROTOS recently launched line here or like them on Facebook to receive updates about their design development.

Process sketches and 3D models reveal the genius and attention to detail behind this incredible design innovation.

Unique grain and layering only possible through this advanced 3D printing technique. So cool!
