LIVING ROOM OF AN ART COLLECTOR

Casa Cor Rio 2011 Living Room :: Gisele Taranto Arquitectura

Set in the Linneo de Paulo Machado Mansion, the 21st Casa Cor Rio challenged 86 architects, interior designers, and landscape architects to design 54 different rooms.  Gisele Taranto's design, the living room of an art collector, is pictured below.  In this design, the original floor, walls, and ceiling of the mansion were kept in their original condition, allowing for the addition of contemporary furniture and art to make that much more of a statement.

With the assistance of art curator Mara Fainziliber and lighting designer Maneco Quinderé, Taranto was able to place dual emphasis on the classic and contemporary elements of the space, allowing each to showcase at its full potential.

A mixture of warm neutrals and varying textures mix nicely with moments of bold colors, and deliberately contrasting pieces.
